Snake traps worker in cell tower

Richards Bay – A worker on top of a cellphone tower had to be rescued after discovering he was trapped in by a snake when he wanted to climb down.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said the worker was trapped in the MTN tower near the Port Control Room in Richards Bay on Thursday afternoon.
“A report from the scene is that the man had climbed up the tower to do work but when he wanted to come down, he spotted a snake of more than a meter blocking his exit,” Botha said.
“Netcare 911 Base manager was called to the scene and had to climb up the outside of the tower to get to the worker. Using a rope rescue system, he brought the man safely down to the ground level.”
After the patient was safely on the ground, the rescuer clambered down the inside of the tower and caught the snake. The snake was later released into a nearby bush.
