A heartless woman has been arrested by the Kaduna State Police Command for allegedly torturing her seven-year-old stepdaughter identified as Zainab, to death.

 
According to Hausa News site, Zuma Times, the mother of the toddler had divorced from her father and he left her in the care of his second wife, not knowing that the woman was not happy with his decision.

Man who killed business partner in Delta begs for forgiveness from the ghost

The heartless murderer, Kingsley AgbaireKingsley Agbaire, a businessman based in Warri, Delta State, who killed his associate, Lawrence Okoh, has cried out to the ghost of the deceased to forgive him and stop haunting him.
 
Okoh, a vehicle parts dealer based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was reportedly murdered by the suspect when he traveled to Warri to supply him with some parts when Agbaire lured him to his house and killed him on August 4, 2016, two days after he went to make the supplies.
According to the State Police Command, Agbaire had allegedly murdered his friend and buried him a shallow grave but the secret was found out after Okoh's wife raised an alarm over her missing husband and father of young twin children.

An Indian businessman living in Nigeria, Jay Keswani, has come under fire after he brutalized one of his Nigerian worker, Faith Nwaneri, with the lady ending up with a facial injury.

According to an older brother of the brutalized lady, Chukwuka Ignatius, his sister worked for Keswani's wife as her Personal Assistant and also helps out at the couple's residence and on the day of the incident, Keswani who is one of the famous Aswani brothers, beat her up with a briefcase at his Benefista Tower, Banana Island, Lagos, residence and she fainted.

Man bathes lover in acid after finding out that she is married

A 43-year-old man has been arrested by the Oyo state police command after bathing his lover in acid for lying to him.

Mr Yisua Adeleke was shocked to discover that Mrs Morufa Ajoke Odesanya, 36, was a married woman instead of a widow as she had led him to believe.
 
An aggrieved Yisua reportedly invited Morufa over to their meet on November 25, 2015, and doused her in acid.
The suspect then went into hiding for months until he was finally arrested on August 7, 2016.

Unidentified man electrocuted to death

An unidentified man has been electrocuted to death in Jigawa State in unknown circumstances.

The man suffered the terrible fate yesterday, August 21, 2016.
Photos of his corpse being brought down from the high tension pole on which he was killed have been making the rounds.
 
The sad incident comes barely two days after news reports revealed the death of a PHCN official in Kano State.
May his soul rest in peace.

Police arrest man who demanded N10m ransom after abducting sister

Nwanaka EgboThe Rivers State Police Command have arrested a man named Nwanaka Egbo, who reportedly abducted his elder sister, Nwanaka Ada, and demanded a sum of N10m for her release.

This was confirmed by Nnamdi Omoni, the state Police Public Relations Officer, who told the press on Friday, August 12, 2016, when the suspect was being paraded.
Nwanaka reportedly did this in collaboration with his friend, who kept her in captivity.

Man with HIV rapes 6-yr-old girl

Monday ImandeMonday Imande, an HIV positive man, was arrested on Thursday, August 11, 2016, for allegedly raping a 6-yr-old girl.
The girl, Osiagboro Blessing, was on an errand when Imande accosted her and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her, Daily Post reports.
This information was revealed by the victim's grandfather as Blessing has not been able to articulate her experience due to the trauma.

Police uncover 12 houses operating illegal oil wells (PHOTOS)

The Lagos State Government has uncovered 12 houses with illegal oil wells in Abeokuta Ibadan Streets in Ilasamaja area of the state.

Report said owners of the houses built shallow oil wells to steal diesel  from pipelines belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
As contained in a statement issued by the State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Steve Ayorinde, the wells were discovered on Friday, August 12.
According to the Commissioner, the oil wells were built purposely for illegally scooping of diesel.
He said some of the affected landlords built pumping machine and boreholes to perpetrate the crime on a large scale.

The UNICEF Chief of Communication, Doune Porter, said in a statement in Abuja on Friday that the campaign would commence in the accessible parts of the state.
Porter said that the campaign followed confirmation of two fresh cases of polio virus in parts of the state which recently became accessible.
He said the outbreak occurred in the conflict-ridden state where children were already facing dangerously high levels of malnutrition.
Porter said the discovery underlined risks for children in conflict and underscored the urgent need to eradicate the disease in conflict-affected areas.

Suspected sea bandits kill three soldiers in Bayelsa

YENAGOA—SUSPECTED pirates, yesterday, attacked a military checkpoint at Tombi waterside in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, killing three soldiers. BurataiChief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai Vanguard gathered that the pirates, who caught the soldiers unawares, struck at 10 a.m. They allegedly made away with a gunboat belonging to the military and two K2 rifles. The incident caused panic in the coastal enclave, as the natives abandoned their homes for fear of reprisal by the military. The bandits stormed the checkpoint in an SUV and opened fire on the soldiers, carting away their arms.

Ogaba was part of the Eaglets at Canada 87,” the NFF wrote. During his active days, Ogaba played in KSC Lokeren in Belgium. He went on loan from Lokeren after sustaining a hamstring injury to Finland, FC Oulu, where he won the league. Ogaba’s last known club was MSV Duisburg who he played for in the 1993/1994 season.

NFF picks German Rohr as eagles coach

The Nigeria Football Federation has selected a German, Gernot Rohr, to manage the Super Eagles. The NFF President Amaju Pinnick confirmed the development to Saturday PUNCH.
The NFF boss confirmed that the German, who is currently working on development programmes for the German Football Federation, is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Saturday (today). He is also expected to be in Lagos on Sunday where he would be at the stands to watch the league match between Ikorodu United and Sunshine Stars.

U.K jails Nigerian trafficker, Asemota, for 22 years

A British Court today sentenced a Nigerian woman, Franca Asemota, to 22 years in prison for trafficking in young girls. Asemota,38, who was extradited from Nigeria to the UK by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, was found guilty of attempting to traffic Nigerian girls through Heathrow Airport to work as sex workers in brothels across Europe.AsemotaAsemota She was convicted on Wednesday at Isleworth Crown Court of eight counts of conspiracy to traffic persons for sexual exploitation, two counts of trafficking persons outside of the UK for sexual exploitation and two counts of assisting unlawful immigration. According to court documents, she was part of a criminal network that trafficked girls, boys and women from Nigeria to Europe using threats to guarantee their compliance.

Court grants Fayose’s ally, Agbele, N500m bail


A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday granted an associate of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, Mr. Abiodun Agbele, bail in the sum of N500m.
Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, who had on Wednesday ordered the remand of the accused in Kuje Prison, Abuja, ruled on Thursday that the N500m bail sum should be guaranteed by two sureties in the sum of N250m each.

‘I Tried To Jump Into Lagoon To End 36-year Illness’ (pic)

A 58 year old man has disclosed why he attempted to jump into the lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge at Oworoshoki area of Lagos State. The man, who introduced himself as Mr. Joseph Onweji, said he had been ill for over 36 years.

He said the illness used to make him uncomfortable, restless and sleepless. Sick and tired of being uncomfortable, with no solution in sight, he decided to end it all. He was about to take the plunge into the lagoon when officials of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS ), grabbed him.

A woman, Mrs. Adiza Umoru, was arrested for using rented twins to beg on the streets of Lagos. Umoru’s arrest came barely a week after three women were arrested by the officials of the state Ministry of Youth and Social Development for using rented babies to beg for alms.

This was as the Commissioner for Youth and social Development, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile Yussuf, yesterday urged the residents to stop giving alms to beggars especially those with babies, so as to discourage the begging. Umoru, who was caught using twins for begging at Costain area of Lagos, claimed that her younger sister, Aminat, was the biological mother of the babies. However, according to the beggar, who hails from Niger State, she pays per time whenever she uses the twins to beg.

The people of Mbiri kingdom, in Ika North East Local Government Area are now living in fear following the gruesome murder of 18-year-old girl, Miss Faith Ijeamaka, who was beheaded with her breasts and genitals cut off.

It was gathered from the bereaved family that Faith’s body was found mutilated along a farm road in Mbiri, days after she went missing last month.

The joint military force responsible for security in the Niger Delta, Operation Delta Safe, said on Tuesday that it would however remain “professional and civil” in dealing with security threats by militant groups in the area.
Joseph Okojie, a Rear Admiral and commander of the joint operation, who said this in Yenagoa, added that the deployment of troops and equipment noticed on Monday at Kaiama in Bayelsa was part of normal operations to keep the region safe.

Customs Impound Smuggled Poultry Products Worth Over N268m In Owerri

 The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘C’, Owerri has continued to effectively checkmate the excesses of smugglers of contraband goods in the country following the latest seizure of a total of 24,273 cartons of imported frozen poultry products with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N 256,264,200.
In a press statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the Unit, Onuigbo Ifeoma, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Haruna Mamudu said that the items which were cleverly and deceitfully concealed in a Scania truck with an inscription ‘DHL’ were seized on the Benin axis in Edo State.

FCMB: Olisa Nwakoby Committed Suicide Over Personal Challenges

 First City Monument Bank Plc says its official, Olisa Nwakoby, who committed suicide on Friday in front of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Lekki, Lagos State, had personal challenges and became frustrated.

The bank, however, noted that neither the management nor colleagues of the deceased were aware of the challenges, adding that it was working with Nwakoby’s family and the police to unravel the nature of the challenges.

Forty-four-year-old Nwakoby, said to be the manager of the bank’s branch in Lekki, shot himself in the head over a bad debt estimated at N350m on Friday.

The deceased was said to have given out the sum as loan to a bank customer, who allegedly failed to service the loan.

He was reportedly under pressure from the bank’s management to repay the loan and became frustrated as he could not meet the demand.
