Five-man gang seize luxury bus in Delta

The Dragon Patrol Team 21 has rescued the driver and over 80 passengers of a commercial luxury bus that was hijacked by armed robbers in Delta State.
The hoodlums, The Eagle Online gathered, disguised as travelers before their diverted the bus at gun point.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the incidence at the command headquarters in Asaba on Monday, said on sighting the police, the robbers jumped down from the bus and escaped into the bush.
Kalu said: “Our men sighted the bus along Ibusa/Ogwashi-Uku Road entering into a lonely track road.
“The team suspected the movement and traced the vehicle.
“The hoodlums sighted the police and jumped down from the bus and escaped into the bush.
“The driver of the vehicle and the passengers were rescued and taken to Ibusa Police Station where they revealed that five armed men unknowingly boarded the bus as passengers from Lagos.
“On getting to Umunede, a neighbouring town to Agbor, in Delta State, bailed up the driver and took over the bus and started robbing the passengers.
“The interception of the Police aborted their intended further heinous act.”
Kalu narrated how her men also recovered firearms from hoodlums, operating in a tricycle along Warri/Sapele Road.
According to her, the patrol men chased the hoodlums who abandoned the said tricycle and fled.
She said: “The policemen searched the tricycle and recovered one locally made single barrel gun.”
Efforts are in top gear to apprehend the fleeing hoodlums, Kalu said.
