Father arrested for killing 8-year-old daughter while sexually assaulting her

A father was arrested on charges of murder for killing his daughter while raping her.

Hiawatha Robinson of Alabama, who is separated from his daughter’s mother, is accused of killing the child while sodomizing her.

Police launched an investigation when the father pleaded with the public to help find his 8-year-old daughter Hiawayi, after she disappeared.

Hiawayi Robinson was found dead behind an abandoned building in Prichard, two days after her disappearance.

Hiawatha Robinson, 38, was arrested on charges of sodomy in the first degree and murder. If convicted, he faces life in prison.

“The facts will show that while engaging in sodomy in the first degree, Hiawatha Robinson Jr. caused the death of Hiawayi Robinson,” Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich said while announcing the charges at a press conference.

The father said that his daughter returned home after school to change before going to her aunt’s house, but she never arrived.

After she was reported missing, authorities and community members searched along with her parents, who are separated. The father stood beside his wife as they pleaded with the community to help search for the 8-year-old girl.

People who helped search for Hiawayi, expressed shock, saying that the father volunteered to search for his daughter. He went out there and acted like he was trying to help look for his daughter despite knowing that she was dead.

Hiawatha Robinson was attested and bail was set at $500,000.
