Police rescue 75-year-old kidnap victim in Delta

ASABA—THE Police in Delta State, weekend, rescued a 75-year-old woman, who was reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen from her farm at Ezionu village, Ukwuani Local Govermment Area of Delta State.
The suspected abductors, according to dependable sources, while fleeing with their victim who was identified as Ogaraya Macaulay, ran into operatives of Dragon patrol team 23 who were on routine patrol along Kwale/Ogwashi-Uku Express road.
The suspects, who were fleeing in a Mercedez Benz V Boot car with number plate DW 357 PHC, Rivers, according to the sources who pleaded anonymity, made a u-turn in a suspicious manner which prompted the police patrol team to pursue them.
The sources added that the two hoodlums fled into the bush, abandoning the car and their victim, adding that on searching the vehicle, the police found the aged woman, one locally made gun, three live cartridges and charms.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, said the vehicle was earlier  snatched from one Christopher Obukowho  by the fleeing hoodlums along Ogume road in the local government area.  Kalu said the rescued victim had rejoined her family, while efforts to track down the fleeing criminals had been intensified.
The police image maker also disclosed that operatives of Safer Highway patrol team 007 while on patrol along Okpanam road, opposite Police State Headquarters, Asaba, sighted an unknown person vandalizing a  white Nissan Maxima with number plate KRD 698 CV.
