Toddler rescued from latrine

 

 20-month old boy is receiving medical treatment in Swedru in the Central region after he was abducted and dumped in a pit latrine.

JoyNews' Laud Adu-Asare reports that the toddler was abducted from his home when his mother left him outside to play with other children on the compound while she changed indoors.
She emerged from their room to discover he was missing and began a search for him with neighbours.
Laud reports that the toddler’s savior was a neighbour who returned from a funeral to attend nature’s call.
“I was urinating when I heard the feeble noise…. I shouted Moses, Moses your cat is in the toilet again”, she told Adu-Asare.
She continued that after Moses had explained his cat was loitering around, they became even more alarmed at the prospects that it could be human life.
Upon his declaration that all his cats were accounted for, she then called her landlady and the search party to assist them discover the source of the sounds.
With the help of a torchlight, they scanned the depths of the latrine, only to discover the very child they had been searching for; bound hand and foot and with his shirt covering his face.
Laud reports that the boy was rescued from the pit and rushed to hospital, and is receiving treatment.
