3-year-old freezes to death after walking out on the street wearing only a diaper

 A little boy died after walking out on the street in middle of the night in freezing temperatures, police in Canada said.

Toronto Police said that 3-year-old Elijah Marsh, died after he was found outside in the freezing temperatures hours after wandering away from his house.

Marsh was found unconscious on Thursday morning about 300 meters away from his apartment. He was spotted by volunteers in the backyard of a house on Baycrest Avenue around 10:00 a.m.

He was taken to the North York General Hospital, where was pronounced dead.

More than 100 police officers conducted a frantic search for the child, who was seen on surveillance video wandering outside an apartment building on Neptune Drive around 4:00 a.m.

Police said that the child was put to bed around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and was reported missing around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, when his family woke up and could not find him.

He was wearing a diaper and winter boots when he left the building.
