Barber kills his customer with scissors while arguing

Carl Richards
Simpson of 210-16 115th Avenue in the Cambria Heights section of Queens, was convicted of first-degree manslaughter following a week-long jury trial before Queens Supreme Court Justice Kenneth C. Holder.

The defendant faces up to 25 years in prison.

According to the police investigation, the defendant purchased a pair of Bluetooth headphones from Carl Richardson, 19, a customer who’d stopped by Select Stylez Barbershop on Merrick Boulevard.

The defendant did not have the cash at that time to pay for the headset, so the victim returned a couple of days later to collect his payment.

The barber and the teen argued about the price of the device and eventually, they started fighting.

The defendant ran back into the barber shop, grabbed a pair of scissors from his workstation and confronted the victim again.

The victim managed to get the defendant in a bear hug, pinning Simpson’s arms to his side.

People from the shop intervened and pulled both men apart.

That’s when the defendant started swinging the scissors, slashing the victim in the neck and upper back before stabbing him in the center of his chest.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
