A man under surveillance by police fell and accidentally shot himself in the leg Friday night before surrendering to officers, Colorado Springs police said

Aaron Braatz, 28, who police said is a felony suspect, was being monitored by police around 11:50 p.m. Friday around the 2900 block of north Tejon Street. Braatz came out of a house, ran to the corner of Tejon and Taylor streets, fell and shot himself in the leg, police said.
Braatz then went back inside the house and after 25 minutes surrendered to officers, police said. He received medical attention for his injuries, and was arrested on drug, weapon and theft warrants.
He was booked into the El Paso County jail and held on $20,000 bond.
