Ta'shae Thompson Johnson and Clifton Thompson Johnson |
Bastrop Police said that the woman’s two children died in a house fire while she was at a hair salon.
Firefighters said that they are still investigating how the fire started in the house on Monday night.
According to the police investigation, 21-year-old Ciarria Johnson left her children home alone for several hours as she was having her hair styled.
The victims were named as 4-year-old Ta'shae Thompson Johnson and 3-year-old Clifton Thompson Johnson.
Ciarria Johnson told investigators that she arranged for a neighbor to look after her children, but police determined that she did not.
Johnson only returned home after being contacted by the fire department. There were two gas heaters running when Johnson left the home.
Part of flammable material of the heater in the living room caused the fire. Johnson was charged with two counts of negligent homicide.
