Nigeria’s national women team, the
Super Falcons, now have their work cut
out having literally been placed in the
“Group of Death” at next year’s FIFA
Women’s World Cup billed to take place
in Canada from June 6-July 5, 2015.
The African Champions in Group D are
placed alongside former champions
United States, Sweden and Australia.
The Nigerian women team are far
behind in rankings put side by side by
their group foes.
The reigning Africa Champions whose
best outing at the female Mundial was in
1999 in the United States, will be starting
their campaign against Sweden who are
one of the best female football playing
nations in the World.
Cameroon one of the other African team
sat the World Cup are in Group C where
they will slug it out against defending
Champions Japan, Switzerland and
Ecuador.
Debutants Ivory Coast who are Africa’s
third flag bearers are in Group B with
Norway, Germany and Thailand.
Incidentally, the Ivorians are the least
ranked amongst the 24 teams that will be
on parade in next year’s Women’s
World Cup to be played across six
Canadian cities
