9-year-old girl who may be staying young forever. She has a rare condition that just made Benjamin Button a reality.
Gabby may be the first true case of biological immortality, according to doctors. The 9-year-old, 11-pound child still has a face of a baby but with a body of a toddler. Her condition is the first in the world so doctors are not able to name her case after her chromosome tests showed negative results for genetic conditions.
Her body has a unique aging process that would take four years before her body develops to a year. The doctors told parents Mary-Margaret and John to expect the worst.
Their daughter was diagnosed with a cleft palate, heart defects and swallowing difficulties so she can only be nourished via tube feeding. Also, she is blind and unable to speak.
"They knew something was seriously wrong," said Mary-Margaret.
"But my husband and I hoped it was just a feeding problem and that it wasn't going to be a big thing."
Gabby was taken home and showered with love. She began growing stronger despite fighting for infections. Then, after a few months, Gabby was observed to never grow old.
"Gabby hasn't changed since pretty much forever," her mum says.
"She's a little longer now and we are putting her in size 3-6 month clothes instead of 0-3 months."
The doctors then told the couple that their child has a slow aging process and there still has no name for such case.
Gabby still needs to drink milk every three hours from a bottle even at 9. Her hair is still similar to that of a baby. Her weight is near-close to a baby weighing 11 lbs.
After they went public about Gabby's condition, they met two individuals who have the same condition with their daughter.
One of them is a 31-year-old man from Florida, who has a body of a 10-year-old. The other one is a 31-year-old Brazil-based woman who still looks like a toddler. Both do not know what their condition is called.
Currently, the doctors are studying Gabby's case for the possibility of turning the genetic off to stop the ageing process. Initially, Mary-Margaret and John did not want their daughter to be a guinea pig, but soon realized that they can help other people struggling with the same condition.
"Despite her case, Gabby's family has high hopes for her. "From her birth we didn't think she would be with us very long." Mary-Margaret said.
"The fact is she is now nine years old. She kind of surpassed my expectations from the get go."
They believe God has a plan for Gabby.
"When he is ready to take her back, it will be sad. I know it will happen, but I am not hoping it's any day soon."
They see Gabby as perfect despite her condition. They happily surround her with love and care.
