Crashed plane |
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced that they found video that showed the pilot taking selfies before losing control of the plane.
The video recordings revealed that the pilot and several passengers were taking selfies with their cellphones during the night, using the flash function of their cameras during the takeoff, climb and flight.
It is highly likely that the cellphones caused distractions for the pilot as there was no evidence of technical problems with the plane, investigators said.
Records show that the aircraft stalled and then plummeted before crashing into a wheat field. The pilot was identified as 29-year-old Amritpal Sing, and he died along with one passenger.
