
A middle-aged man in Benin City, Edo State capital, names (withheld) was feared dead last weekend in the hands of an enraged woman when the duo were engaged in a scuffle following a car crash between them along Isihor area, a suburb of the city on New Year’s Day. The woman, whose identity could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report, was alleged to have run her SUV car into the deceased’s Honda Jeep, sparking a heated argument between them for several minutes. The deceased, who was said to have been in the company of his brother, reportedly slapped the woman several times. She was said to have gone straight to the man’s trousers and bit out his penis and spat it on the tarred road to the astonishment of motorists and onlookers that had gathered. Her action, according to sources, almost resulted in a mob action but for the quick intervention of some plain-clothes security agents who saved her from being lynched immediately. Unconfirmed report indicated that the deceased gave up the ghost while being rushed for medical attention at the University of Benin Teaching, UBTH. Edo State police public relations officer, DSP Joseph Edoigiawerie, when contacted on the matter, said the command was yet to be briefed on the incident. He, however , promised to find out from the divisional police officer in charge of the area.
