“I was at home when I heard a loud explosion that sent me rushing out of my house. On reaching the Gambouru Customs area market, we saw five dismembered bodies with no hands or legs, while two others, including a motorists in a Honda vehicle, was also killed by the blast”, said the CJTF member in a telephone interview yesterday in Maiduguri.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed that six persons were killed in a suicide bomb attack at a Maiduguri market.
The extremist sect, whose name roughly translates as “Western education is forbidden”, has carried on its campaign of attacks on security forces, suicide bombings and bloody raids on villages across Nigeria’s north and eastern borders despite a major regional military campaign against them.
