Although there was heavy presence of both uniformed and plain cloth security operatives ahead of the rally, the governor who traditionally graces the occasion was absent.
A source blamed the governor’s absence was blamed on security reports, noting that officials of “the State Director of State Security Services (SSS), intimated the governor of plans to cause mayhem during the rally.”
Meanwhile, Governor Uduaghan who was represented by his Special Adviser on Labour Relations, Comrade Mike Okeme congratulated the workers, assuring that the out-going administration was not owning workers.
