Why I Shunned May Day Rally –Uduaghan

Fresh facts have emerged that Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan’s absence at the 2015 Workers’ Day rally last Friday may be connected to the leadership crisis rocking the Delta State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). It will be recalled that two parallel May Day rally had been held on May 1, one at St Patrick’s College, Asaba and the other at Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Warri.
Although there was heavy presence of both uniformed and plain cloth security operatives ahead of the rally, the governor who traditionally graces the occasion was absent.
A source blamed the governor’s absence was blamed on security reports, noting that officials of “the State Director of State Security Services (SSS), intimated the governor of plans to cause mayhem during the rally.”
Meanwhile, Governor Uduaghan who was represented by his Special Adviser on Labour Relations, Comrade Mike Okeme congratulated the workers, assuring that the out-going administration was not owning workers.
