Flying Car

This week the Dutch company PAL-V announced the first flights of its prototype "flying car".
This unique vehicle is called the PAL-V One, or the 'Personal Air and Land Vehicle', and It marks the start of a new era.

On the ground the vehicle drives like a sports car. Within minutes its rotor is unfolded and its tail is extended: then it is ready to take off thanks to the advanced gyrocopter technology.

With these successful test results it is proven that it is not only possible to build a flying car but also that it can be done within existing international rules for both flying and driving.

Having passed this important milestone the company is now inviting investors to join them in creating the future.

The next step will be the design of the first commercial production model of the PAL-V, and first deliveries are expected in 2014.

For 100 years people have dreamed of a flying car, and many attempts have been made to realize this dream, but now it has truly become a reality.

A Nigerian UN peacekeeper infected with Ebola in Liberia arrived Saturday for treatment in The Netherlands, Dutch authorities said.

The first Ebola patient to be treated in The Netherlands was flown to the country in a specially equipped plane and was to be taken straight to the university hospital in Utrecht, in the centre of the country.
“After Germany, France and Switzerland , it is The Netherlands’ turn to make a contribution by welcoming an employee of an international organisation,” the Dutch health and development ministers said in a letter to parliament.
The patient had been enlisted in the fight against Ebola, which has killed more than 6,000 people and infected around 17,000, almost all in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

Ronaldo Sets La Liga Hat-Trick Record in Real Win

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a record 23rd La Liga hat-trick as Real Madrid claimed a record equaling 18th straight win in all competitions at home to Celta Vigo on Saturday.
The Portuguese converted a spot kick for Real’s opener, powered home a fierce volley for his second and then arrived at the back post to finish Marcelo’s cross for his 200th La Liga goals-28 shy of Raul’s record tally for the Los Merengues in the Spanish Primera Division, in his 178th appearance.
The win saw Real move four points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid, who earlier in the day defeated Elche, at the top of the standings, with 36 points from 14 matches. They have now matches the Spanish record set by Barcelona under Frank Rijkaard between October 2005 and January 2006.

Ronaldo now leads joint-second pair of Alfredo di Stefano and Telmo Zarra, and fourth-ranked Lionel Messi in the list of all-time highest hat-trick scorers in La Liga.
Real were not at their best against mid-table Celta , who also had their own fair share of possession, but with another three points in the kitty and records tumbling at the Santiago Bernebeu; who said they needed to be imperious?
Atletico moved up to second with a 2-0 win at Elche earlier on Saturday. Barcelona can leapfrog the reigning champions and close in on leaders Real back to two points when they host Espanyol on Sunday

'My kids saved my life': Boy, 7, and sister, 5, calmly phone 999 and put mother into recovery position after she suffered potentially fatal epileptic fit

Ryan Watson and his sister Emma saved their mother's life when she collapsed by calmly phoning for an ambulance and putting her in the recovery position.
Debbie, 27, who suffers from epilepsy, was battling a sickness bug when she fell unconscious and had a seizure in their home in Thornley, County Durham.
Seven-year-old Ryan called 999 and told his sister, five, to put their mother in the recovery position

Paramedics told Debbie that she would not be here if it was not for her quick-thinking kids, who were given bravery awards for their actions from the North East Ambulance Service

The mother-of-two said: 'I'm just so proud of them, they did amazing.

'When I talk about it I shake, I just can't believe what they've done.'
Their father Jonny, who is a first responder, had taught them to call 999 if their mother was ever unwell.

'I managed to get into the house but then I must have had a fit and fell unconscious.
'There were only me and the kids in the house, they've never seen me like that before.
'Ryan was on the phone and he was telling Emma what to do. They already had me in the recovery position before the paramedics got here.'
Debbie was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham but has now been released.
She added: 'Jonny has always told them to call 999 if I was to ever unwell.
'They always asked 'how would we know?' and we used to say I would look like I was asleep.
'It shows they've always listened. I can't thank them enough.'
Nigel Jones, patient support clinician, said: 'I thought Ryan was fantastic, he was a little superstar. And his sister was also calm.
'Their parents should be very proud of them both.'
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: 'We would like to congratulate Ryan and Emma on their quick-thinking actions, and for remaining calm when they must have been very frightened.
'We would also like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to our call operator Michelle Watson and patient support clinician Nigel Jones for the way they handled the call.'

EPILEPTIC FITS: WHAT TO DO IF SOMEONE SUFFERS A SEIZURE

The main symptoms of epilepsy are repeated seizures or fits but there are many different types, depending on the area of the brain affected. These can occur when a person is awake or asleep.
Doctors classify seizures by how much of the brain is affected.
Partial (or focal) seizures affect a small part of the brain and generalised seizures affect most or all of the brain. Some seizures are unclassified because they fit neither category.
If you see someone having a seizure, there are some simple steps you can take to help.
If the person is suffering from convulsions, wait until they stop and then put them into the recovery position until they have recovered.
It is not usually necessary to call an ambulance after a seizure, but you should call 999 if: the seizure has not stopped after five minutes, the person has more than one seizure without recovering in between, you know it is the person's first seizure, the person is injured, has breathing problems, or needs emergency medical attention for any other reason or if the person’s behaviour after a seizure is unsafe.
A seizure that lasts longer than 30 minutes or a series of seizures where the person does not regain consciousness in between is called Status epilepticus.
This is a medical emergency and requires treatment as soon as possible.
You can be trained to treat status epilepticus if you care for someone with epilepsy, but if you haven't had any training, it is important to call 999 for an ambulance immediately if you suspect status epilepticus.

Mourinho slams ball boys after Chelsea loss

Image result for mourinhoChelsea manager Jose Mourinho accused the St James’ Park ball boys of taking too long to return the ball after his side’s 2-1 loss at Newcastle United on Saturday.Chelsea were bidding to set a new club record of 24 games without defeat, but Papiss Cisse’s second-half brace gave Newcastle victory and breathed new life into the Premier League title race. After Newcastle captain Steven Taylor had been sent off for picking up a second yellow card, Didier Drogba replied for Chelsea, but the hosts held on to prevent Mourinho’s men opening up a provisional nine-point lead.Referee Martin Atkinson added on six minutes of injury time, but Mourinho told the BBC: “There could have been 20 minutes’ stoppage time, but the situation would have been the same because things were happening outside the four lines that the referee couldn’t control.“The referee can’t punish the ball boy who disappeared with the ball, the referee couldn’t punish the people in the crowd who kept the ball.”Mourinho felt that his team had lost their “emotional balance” after Cisse’s second goal in the 78th minute, but he played down the disappointment of losing an opportunity to complete an entire season unbeaten.“I’m not obsessed with records and statistics,” he said. “That’s not for me. I want to win the league.”Newcastle have now won their last three home games against Chelsea and manager Alan Pardew felt victory was fitting reward for his team’s commitment.“That was about character and discipline against probably the best team in Europe at the moment,” he told BT Sport. “At the start I thought we stood off Chelsea a bit, but we stuck at it.“I’ve never had six minutes of stoppage time at home before. We’ve heard of ‘Fergie time’, but that was about ‘Mourinho time’!“It’s a special day for us. At the end we had players flying in blocking shots, and that summed us up. We are in it together and pulling one way.” -

Eaten Alive: What it's like to be swallowed by 18-stone anaconda - and LIVE to tell the tale

A naturalist has spoken of his death-defying close encounter with a 20ft snake - and when we say close, you couldn't get much closer.
Paul Rosolie revealed he was wrapped inside the clutches of an anaconda and squeezed so hard he could feel his arms 'ripping out of their sockets'.
The 27-year-old was filmed being 'eaten alive' by the biggest and mightiest snake species on Earth as an experiment.
The results will be shown at 9pm, tomorrow night on America's Discover Channel then in the UK on Friday
Rosolie told the Daily Mail: "She nailed me right in the face, and the last thing I remember was her mouth open wide, straight in my face, and everything went black.
"I went limp and let it constrict. All the while I was just thinking: 'Eat, eat, eat!'"

Terrifying test: Paul Rosolie allowed himself to be eaten by anaconda

For his experiment, he needed a streamlined carbon-fibre suit to protect him from being crushed. Engineers used a 3D scan of his body to make sure it fit his 5ft 9in frame closely.
The sealed suit was finished with built-in cameras and a radio mic so he could communicate with his watching team.
Pig blood was slathered on the suit to make Rosolie smell more like prey. Added to this, he said: "I had to provoke a defence response from the snake and turn it into a predator. I got down on all fours to make contact with it and simply let it bite me."

Special suit: Paul Rosolie gets geared up for his terrifying experience

He described the crushing feeling of the constriction as like being caught under a powerful wave.
"She wrapped around me and I felt my suit cracking and my arms ripping out of their sockets," he said. "It was absolutely terrifying."
Enveloped in the snake’s coils, Rosolie couldn’t see anything but he was able to radio back to his team to say he was alive. They agreed once he was in past his waist, they would pull him out before it became too difficult to extract him without injuring him or the snake.
Months later Rosolie is still not entirely recovered from the experience.

A senior British military officer has called for the Army to ditch Christianity as its main religion and replace the use of priest and chaplain with “moral counsellor”. Lieutenant Colonel Laurence Quinn said that the practice of sending priests to the front line and the forces should be stopped and instead non-religious advisors should take their place.
According to a report by Uk’s Mirror, Lieutenant Laurence Quinn who is a former commanding officer of a battalion that played a major role in the drawdown of UK forces across Afghanistan this year, said that he is feeling at discomfort with the way religion is tied to everything the Army does.
“Troops should be able to practise their religion, and I think we should facilitate that, but it shouldn’t be bound up in our business,” Laurence Quinn said according to Mirror.
“When I was a commanding officer, I came to appreciate chaplains – I think they do an invaluable job – but I think we would be better served by them being secular,” he added.

How I Lied To My Daughter About Biting Ban - Luis Suarez Reveals

Luis Suarez
Luis Suarez has revealed the level of shame he felt after lying to his daughter while being banned for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Fifa suspended the Uruguay international for nine international matches and handed him a 4-month ban from competitive football and in a recent interview with Span’s Radio Catalunya, he revealed the pain he went through after he lied to his daughter.
‘When my daughter asked me why I was not playing, it hurt me very much. I had to face it. At first I said it was because of the knee. But people told me to be sincere to her because she is becoming aware of everything.’
The former Liverpool player said he later told his daughter the truth before he moved to La Liga giants, Barcelona.
‘I think it was during the match between Barcelona and Rayo [Vallecano] earlier in the season. ‘She asked me why I was not playing and at the end I said: ‘Dad had a red card because he did a mistake, because dad is human and he is not perfect.’ She has since not asked anymore. I explained everything [to her] and she understood it.’
