“As Chief of Army Staff, I will be actively involved in this “Operation Lafiya Dole” to end the madness of Boko Haram, if I will have your collective maximum support and cooperation”.
Burutai said, “Consequently as from today July 19, we are here to bury the “Operation Zaman Lafiya” and give birth to what we will henceforth call ‘Operation Lafiya Dole.'”. He said the time to crush Boko Haram and other criminal activities in the country is now or never.
“The COAS also used the occasions to inform the troops of his vision and the resolve to end the activities of Boko Haram terrorists”.
Earlier in his address, the Deputy Governor thanked the Army Chief and the General Officers Commanding 7 and 3 Divisions for “taking their time to visit the state to see the gallant troops”.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Acting COAS also visited the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Garbai at his palace in Maiduguri.
“This will make us to have a very peaceful country free from any insecurity”, Buratai said.
“I want to assure you that the peace associated with Borno is about to return by the grace of God”.
“Government is not happy at the level of displaced persons living in camps”.
He said that his main goal was to build an army that was professionally sound to perform its constitutional role. “It is now in our own court to rescue the people of Borno, the northeast and Nigeria in general and to restore the desired and needed peace in this country”.
While expressing happiness for the time the Army Chief took to spend the Sallah holiday with his troops, he said the coming of the Army Chief has boosted the morale of the troops in Borno.
