Shell Plc sells Warri Airport

Warri AirportOil and gas giant, Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria has finally sold its airfield in Warri, Delta State, to an indigenous energy and infrastructure company, Shoreline Energy International Limited, as part of its ongoing review of operations in the Niger Delta.
The multi-billion naira airport will now be fully operated and managed by the new owners which has taken full possession of the facility.
The sale of the airport was said to be part of the strategic review of Shell’s operations in the Eastern Niger Delta which has seen the oil major selling off some of its oil blocks and interests in the area as part of the general divestment plan.
A spokesperson for Shell, Bamidele Odugbesan, who confirmed the development, said it was a strategic review and not an indication that Shell was divesting from the country.
“This does not mean we are reducing our investments in Nigeria. What we have invested in Nigeria in recent years has exceeded the divestment of our interests in the Eastern Niger Delta. It is just part of the review of our business portfolio.”
