Henry, a popular pundit with Sky Sports, has often launched his controversial side this season and he shocked a number of Arsenal supporters in his assessment of his fellow countryman.
As good as the French international has been for the Gunners this season, Henry questioned whether his former club can realistically think about winning the title with Giroud spearheading the team.
His remarks were surprising, especially as they came at a time when Arsene Wenger’s men were riding the crest of a wave and showing remarkable form since the turn of the year.
In 2015, no Premier League team has posted more points that the North Londoners and Giroud’s inclusion in the first-team evidently brought the best out of playmakers Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
Nonetheless, the former Montpellier man admitted to having doubts over his ability and amid Henry’s rather harsh statement, he spoke to Arsene Wenger in need of some reassurance.
“I talked to the coach (Wenger) and the most important thing is to have the support of the people around you, who have faith in you, the staff, and my team-mates.”
Giroud, 28, was restricted to just 21 Premier League starts over the course of the campaign due to his early-season injury, though impressively found the net 14 times and added three assists.
His season culminated with a second successive FA Cup success after Wenger’s men took apart a poor Aston Villa side 4-0 in-front of a vocal Wembley crowd
