Ebola flare-up stokes fears over health workers' vigilance

Image result for Ebola flare-up stokes fears over health workers' vigilanceA failure to send a suspected Ebola patient directly to a specialist treatment unit in a fresh outbreak of the virus in Liberia may reflect fatigue and complacency among health workers, a health expert said on Tuesday.
Liberia has placed 153 people under surveillance after three Ebola cases emerged on Friday, more than two months after the West African country was declared free of the virus.
The first of the new patients was 15-year-old Nathan Gbotoe from Paynesville, a suburb east of the capital Monrovia, and his father and brother have since been confirmed as positive.
The teenager went to several health centres before being referred to an Ebola treatment unit and several health workers who cared for him may have not worn protective equipment, said Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) representative Carissa Guild.

Female suicide bombers kills 8

Female suicide bomberFour civilians were killed in northern Cameroon on Saturday in a suicide bomb assault by suspected Boko Haram militants in which three female attackers and one man blew themselves up, security sources said.
The attack on the village of Nigue, a suburb of Fotokol town, is the latest of many the Islamist militant group has mounted in Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria this year. The U.N. refugee agency said last month the attacks were turning the border region near Lake Chad into a war zone.
"The first kamikaze detonated his bomb in the house of the traditional chief of Leymarie. Five people died including the bomber," said a senior Cameroonian military official who declined to be named. Leymarie forms part of Nigue.
"Several minutes later, three female bombers exploded their bombs close to the initial site but they didn't kill anyone else because they acted too quickly," the official said, adding that around a dozen people were also wounded.
Boko Haram has waged a six-year campaign for an Islamist state in northeastern Nigeria. Neighbouring countries joined an offensive against the group this year and the conflict spilled across their borders, displacing tens of thousands of people.

Ken Olisa: The Most Powerful Black Man In Britain

He's the Queen’s escort in London who locked horns with John Bercow and has a library named after him at Cambridge - not bad for a boy who grew up without a loo in Nottingham

Today Ken Olisa is officially named as the most powerful black person in Britain, not that any of the commuters on the 8.10am from Hampton Wick would know it.

Unassuming and usually dressed in the commuter’s favoured uniform of suit and raincoat, the only thing that hints at his influence is his trademark bow tie – he owns more than 100.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, said the police acted on a tip off. She said, “We had it on good authority that the male students allegedly engaged in anal sex. The suspects, upon interrogation, made useful statements to the police while investigations are ongoing.”
Investigation revealed that homosexuality has been on the rise in the two institutions and culprits were also members of various cult groups.
