Father Poisons Baby To Divorce Wife

 A 41-day-old baby, Zainab Olajide, has died after she was allegedly poisoned by her father, Kazeem Olajide, in a desperate attempt to divorce his wife.

The incident happened at about 7am on Friday at Toluwalase Estate, Ijoko-Abule, in the Lemode area of Ogun State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the mother, Abosede Ogundare, had left Zainab with Kazeem to sweep the compound only to come back and met the baby with foams gushing out from her mouth.

It was learnt that Ogundare alerted neighbours to the incident having found a bottle containing pesticide with her husband.

Zainab was said to have been rushed to a hospital in the community, where she eventually died.

Our correspondent learnt that the suspect, who hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State, attempted to flee, but was held by residents, while the landlord of the house reported the case to the monarch of the community, Oba Solomon Sokunbi.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the father was handed over to policemen at the Agbado Police Division after he confessed to the crime before the monarch.

Women Throw Out Burning Pot, Set Three-year-old Ablaze

A three-year-old boy, Basit Adewole, was burnt to death in the Iwaya, Yaba area of Lagos after two women, who were cooking, mistakenly poured hot oil on his body.
Our correspondent learnt that the women, and their host, identified only as Yemisi, had been arrested by the Sabo Police Division, where the matter was reported.

PUNCH Metro learnt that on the afternoon of Saturday, the women came to Audu Baale Street, Iwaya, to see Yemisi, who was celebrating her birthday.

It was gathered that the women, who did not meet Yemisi at home, started cooking in the room. Adewole and other toddlers in the house were said to be playing in the corridor.

It was learnt that the pot, however, caught fire, and the women quickly threw out the oil and the pot. The hot oil, however, spilled on the boy, and he was set ablaze.

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, Hajiya Zainab Shamsuna-Ahmed, on Wednesday said between 2009 and 2012, about 160 million barrels of oil valued at $13.7bn was stolen under the watch of the national oil giant, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

She also said that subsidy payment from 2005 to 2012 indicated that $11.63bn had been paid to the NNPC but that “there is no evidence of the money being remitted to the federation account.”

The NEITI boss, who called on the Federal Government to privatize the refineries, stated this during a courtesy call on Governor Nasir el-Rufai, at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna, on Wednesday.

El-Rufai is among the four governors appointed by the National Economic Council to scrutinise the accounts of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and the Excess Crude Account managed by the administration of Goodluck Jonathan.

Part of the terms of reference was to unravel the N3.8trn not remitted to the Federation Account by the national oil giant between 2012 and May 2015, as well as $2.1bn said to have been deducted from the Excess Crude Account.

A 28-year-old notorious kidnapper, Henry Chibueze, popularly called ‘Vampire’, has been arrested alongside his informant.
He was said to have been on his way to kidnap tribunal Judges lodged at Disney Hotels, along Onitsha-Owerri Road, when nemesis caught up with him.
Reports say he confessed he had been into the act for a very long time.

 

“I operate in many parts of Nigeria, Benin Republic and Abidjan where my children and Cameroonian wife resides. My wife thinks I am a business man who buys and sells clothes,” he said.

“I have an informant in the Army who was a Boko Haram member. His name is Hakeem Bello from Kwara State,” Vampire stated.
The suspect also said he had kidnapped so many people in high places and that he sometimes killed his victims if they didn’t succumb to his requests.
“I had a girlfriend in Lagos and I killed her and her entire family because she ran away with my money. I gave her about 45 million naira after I opened a supermarket for her in Aba because I wanted her to fend for herself”, he confessed.

Man cuts off wife’s hand over suspicion of infidelity

Nwadiokeonu Nwachukwu, a middle aged woman, will have to live for the rest of her life with one hand after her jealous husband, Jacob Nwachukwu, severed her left arm over allegations that she slept with another man.

The ugly incident which happened at Ogbor Hill area of Aba, Abia State, where the woman lived after her husband lost his job in the town and relocated to their village at Abala.

But it seemed some people were taking rumours back to the husband that his wife had a secret lover and Jacob was said to have visited the wife on the said day and during a quarrel, brought out a machete with the intention of killing her but ended up cutting off the hand she used to defend herself.

Timaya Battles Rape Case As Atlanta-based Girl Drags Him to Court

The trending news about Nigeria's popular musician Timaya has it that an Atlanta-based lady Shella B. accused and filed a rape case against him. The lady said that the singer raped her while in Atlanta.

She has been all over Instagram, threatening the singer while Timaya on the other side has been defending himself.

Shella’s last post on her Instagram page reads;

Obama laments African leaders overstaying in office, "even after siphoning lots of money"

Barack Obama told African nations on Tuesday,  July 27 they need to respect democratic rules and create jobs to avoid a slide into disorder.

In the first speech by a serving U.S. president to the 54-nation African Union, he said violence unleashed in Burundi by the president's bid for a third term in office showed the risks of ignoring constitutional rules.

"Africa is on the move, and a new Africa is emerging," he said at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, adding the continent's rapid economic growth is changing "old stereotypes" of a continent of war and poverty.

But he said there is an "urgent task" facing a continent whose 1 billion people will double in a few decades.

"Africa will need to generate millions more jobs than it is doing now," he said. "We need only look to the Middle East and North Africa to see that large numbers of young people with no jobs and stifled voices can fuel instability and disorder."

"Africa's progress will also depend on democracy," he said, adding that jailing journalists or restricting legitimate opposition groups led to "democracy in name, but not in substance".

Last week, an 18-month-old baby was found dead inside a car, suspected to have been killed by severe heat, in Arkansas.

The Police have identified the 18-month-old boy as the son of a Juvenile court judge, Wade Naramore.

 

Naramore is also a former Garland County deputy prosecutor.

The Hot Springs Police Department said it was conducting a criminal investigation.

It says the boy's death was likely due to 'excessive heat.'

A statement released on the family's behalf by a family friend Sunday night called the death a 'tragic accident.'

 

The Hot Springs Sentinel Record reported Monday that an official cause of death wouldn't be released until toxicology reports are ready in a few weeks.

Police Cpl. McCrary Means said Naramore and others have spoken with police about the death.

The local prosecutor has asked to recuse himself.

A 41-year-old woman, Karlita Desean Phillips and her 17-year-old boyfriend, Tavirous Dequan Settles, has been charged and sentenced arrested for the murder of her brother-in-law, instead of her husband, reports Metro UK.

Phillips of South Carolina, had mandated Settles to murder her estranged husband but in a case of mistaken identity, Settles managed to kill 31-year-old Jamil Phillips, her husband's younger brother.

Prosecutor David Stumbo said that Phillips was sentenced after she was convicted of accessory before the fact of murder and soliciting a minor to commit a felony.

She was sentenced to life in prison while the teenager was sentenced to 45 years in prison.

Investigators said that the teenager had ambushed Jamil Phillips while he was in front of his home in Abbeville.

Settles told the court that he and Karlita were in a sexual relationship and that she hired him to kill her estranged husband.

A 40-year-old Melbourne, Australia, woman who had a sexual relationship with her child's 12-year-old friend, spanning a period of five months, will spend at least six years in prison after she gave birth to the boy's child.

The woman who has been jailed on charges of child abuse, was said to be having unprotected sex with the boy at least once a week over the period.

16-yr-old kills 4-yr-old boy, removing kidney, intestine

Tajudeen Azeez, a 16-year-old furniture apprentice in the Ijanikin Oto area of Lagos, has been arrested for allegedly murdering a four-year-old boy and removing his kidney and intestines.

A police source at the Ijanikin Police Station, informed that the young victim identified as Ibrahim Jamiu, was killed on Monday, July 27, behind the Anglican Primary School, Deeper Life Bus Stop, and the suspect would have made away with the crime but for some neighbours who saw him and raised the alarm.

The mother of the deceased was said to have gone to a hospital to be delivered of a baby when Azeez abducted Jamiu from his home and killed him.

Pregnant victim of police brutality loses baby

The pregnant woman who was recently beat up beat up by Policemen has lost her baby, Daily Sun reports.

“Take me to my son, I want to see him”, Chika Elekawachi pleaded with family members who were still lost in thought on how to break the news of the death of her baby. Chika is the eight-month pregnant woman who was allegedly brutalized by three policemen attached to the Satellite Police Division in Lagos on Sunday, July 19. The policemen allegedly stripped the woman naked after accusing her of resisting arrest.

She was allegedly assaulted before she was dragged to the police station. Her family members later rushed her to Safe Hands Hospital, old Ojo road, Amuwo, Lagos, after she allegedly passed out at the police station.

Lightning strikes newlywed couple killing bride

Kathleen Bartlett, 31, of Denver, was struck by lightning but died from injuries. Ryan Pocius, 32, also from Denver, is described as being in critical condition.

The lightning strike happened on a Trail at 2 p.m. at an elevation of approximately 12,500 feet, which is about 2,000 feet below the summit.

A father and son from Colorado Springs were also struck in the area at approximately the same time, and they both suffered minor injuries but were able to walk to safety. Their names have not been released.

It took search crews more than two hours to reach the Denver man and woman. A Flight for Life helicopter was also delayed in getting to the scene to transport the man to the hospital due to stormy conditions.

Officials with the National Weather Service said there were only two lightning strikes that hit the ground on Mount Yale on Friday.

Son murders 74-yr-old father: "It's on me" - he boasts

A Missouri man has been charged with viciously murdering his 74-year-old father, by lying on his head to prove how 'big and bad he was.'

Kyle Webb, 44, allegedly killed his father, Franklin Webb, late Saturday night at the home they shared in Grandview, Missouri. 

 

The father reportedly wasn't pleased with how his son was cleaning up around a leaky pipe and complained about it.

Infuriated with his dad's complaints, Kyle Webb attempted to scare his dad by acting as though he was going to hit him with an empty vodka bottle, according to the police report.

The father tried to punch his son, but fell backwards in the process, hitting a kitchen chair before he fell to the floor.
