John Kerry in Qatar to sell Iran nuclear deal

US Secretary of State John Kerry has taken the Obama administration's case for the Iran nuclear deal to wary Arab officials in Qatar.
Mr Kerry is meeting with the foreign ministers of the Gulf Co-operation Council, the six-member bloc of Sunni-ruled Gulf Arab nations that fear Shiite Iran's increasing assertiveness in the region and the implications of the agreement.
In addition to Iran, the ongoing conflicts in Syria, Iraq and Yemen are high on the agenda.
Opening the meeting, Qatari foreign minister Khalid al-Attiya said the gathering is being held in "very exceptional circumstances and challenges that have been unprecedented".
He said: "We are facing many challenges in our communities and we are aiming to achieve peace and security and stability with the help of the United States."

Majek Fashek has spiritual problems – Oritz Wiliki

Reggae artist, Orits Wiliki, has said the problem fellow artist, Majek Fashek, is facing is spiritual and not just drugs.

Majek, popularly called the Rain Maker, was recently in a rehabilitation centre but claimed the sessions he had there did not help him but merely reduced his libido.
However, Wiliki believes Majek’s problem is beyond drugs.

 

“His problem is beyond drugs; it is spiritual. Sometimes, if you have a one-on-one conversation with him, he would discuss with you as if nothing was wrong with him.
“I also think part of the problems is that he is not busy, he is not engaged. You know, an idle mind as they say, is the devil’s workshop.
“If we put him in rehab and he finds something doing after he is confirmed fit, Majek will be well 100 per cent okay I can assure you.
“Even in his present condition, he still maintains on the same aura on stage that he had when he was still rave. I believe that if he is busy going on music tours, there will be no problem.”

Experimental Ebola vaccine could stop virus in West Africa

LONDON -- An experimental vaccine tested on thousands of people in Guinea exposed to Ebola seems to work and might help shut down the ongoing epidemic in West Africa, according to interim results from a study published Friday.

There is currently no licensed treatment or vaccine for Ebola, which has so far killed more than 11,000 people in West Africa since the world's biggest outbreak began in the forest region of Guinea last year.

"If proven effective, this is going to be a game-changer," said Dr. Margaret Chan, Director-General of the World Health Organization, which sponsored the study. "It will change the management of the current outbreak and future outbreaks."

Boko Haram Kills 13 People In Borno

No fewer than 13 villagers were killed by suspected Boko Haram members in Malari Village in Konduga Local Government of Borno State.
The village which is located along Bama road came under attack in the early hours of Sunday by members of the Boko Haram according to eyewitness.

Ex-amnesty Boss, Kuku Releases Surgery Photos, Says He Left N5.3b In Account

in the US and denied claims that he is on the run.

The people around St. Peters' area, Olomore, Abeokuta were shocked today to find the body of a dark-skinned lady dumped at the refuse dump near the taxi park. Armed robbers attack bridal train

A band of masked armed robbers attacked a bridal train at Mgbuishii, Ohaji/Egbema local government area of Imo State, killing the video camera man and badly wounded others, including the photographer in the process, Vanguard reports.

It was gathered that the newly wed couple were wedded at Chimezie Catholic Parish, Mgbuishii, were on their way back to Owerri for the reception, when robbers suddenly jumped out of the nearby bush and attacked the bridal train.

A villager, who preferred to remain anonymous, identified the dead video camera man as Mr. Isaac Ezirim, while the wounded photographer was Mr. Julius Ashigbu.

“The hoodlums first attacked the vehicle conveying the bride and groom. Although the bullets hit the video camera man and the photographer, the driver of the vehicle sped off”, the villager recounted.

It was also gathered that having missed their target, the masked hoodlums descended on all the vehicles coming behind the couple.

UN peacekeeper killed in CAR clashes

BANGUI : At least one soldier with the U.N. peackeeping mission in Central African Republic was killed on Sunday during clashes with armed assailants in a northern neighbourhood of the capital Bangui, a spokesman for the mission said.
Residents said heavy machinegun fire was heard around 3 a.m. (0200 GMT) and it continued for several hours in the mostly Muslim district of PK5, where some inhabitants had set up barricades and were burning tyres. "The mission launched an operation to arrest a person wanted by the judicial services for various crimes. Our forces came under heavy fire. One MINUSCA peacekeeper was killed and several others where wounded," the spokesman said by telephone from Bangui. Central African Republic descended into chaos in March 2013 when predominantly Muslim Seleka rebels seized power, triggering reprisals by "anti-balaka"
